The Israeli army has massacred 274 Palestinians in the Nuseirat refugee camp and wounded nearly 700 in order to take back 4 hostages taken on October 7th. That the perpetrators of this war crime should flaunt this as a triumph, is yet further demonstration that Israeli political and military leaders, and their Western backers, are so blinded by racism that there are no limits to their barbarity and criminality. Biden welcomed Israel’s release of the hostages without a word of condemnation of the massacre inflicted on the Palestinians, while the US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, described it as a “daring” mission by the Israel Defence Forces. The Times of Israel commented: “Given that the US has repeatedly expressed concern over civilian casualties in Gaza, Sullivan’s statement notably made no mention to the dozens of Palestinians that the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza reported were killed during the rescue operation.” The death toll has in fact far exceeded “dozens” but even The Times of Israel could not completely ignore the US’s hypocrisy. As for British political leaders, with more than 24 hours after the Nuseirat refugee camp massacre, they have yet to utter a word of condemnation.
