PFI delegation showcasing at Sheffield Doc Fest

Sheffield Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid is pleased to have the opportunity to welcome Palestine Film Institute (PFI) delegation of film makers who will be show casing their work at Sheffield DocFest on Saturday 13th June.

We will have another opportunity to hear Saeed Taji Farouky who spoke so powerfully in Sheffield last year, he will be joined by film directors Safaa Khatib , Gaia Caramassa and Marta Miskaryan together with film producers May Jabreen , Maria Eugenia Lombardi, Sanjana Selva and Alice Hughes.

The PFI Showcase is collaboration with Sheffield DocFest and supported by the British Council. Times of the Showcasing and times of screening of films about Palestine are below.

Their show case will take place:

Saturday, June 13, 10:00 – 11:00, The Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row, Sheffield City Centre

Synopsis: As the filmmaker’s father – a prominent Palestinian political
leader from the Galilee – is convicted of “incitement to violence and
terrorism”, his daughter begins filming, capturing family life and
resistance before the Israeli state possibly returns him to prison.

Palestinian journalist at Columbia University must navigate the
tension between objectivity and identity as she documents a student
movement that mirrors her own struggle for truth and belonging.

Synopsis: A Palestinian artist discovers his grandfather’s forgotten photo
archive from 1940s Gaza. What begins as a family heirloom becomes a fight
to preserve the memory of a place on the brink of erasure.

Life Support: A film about a group of international doctors breach the blockade of Gaza. What they find is the calculated dismantling of life itself.
