Many will remember our friend Shahd Abusalama, a Palestinian from Gaza who was a solidarity campaign activist in Sheffield while studying for her PhD at Hallam University and then taught there as a lecturer from January to July 2022.  Shahd has battled for three years to clear her name from the university authority’s collusion with Zionist publications to smear her as an antisemite.  Last week, with the threat of libel action, Hallam threw in the towel.  It paid compensation to Shahd and her equally substantial legal expenses.   
 
It was at one of the high points in the weaponisation of antisemitism to promote the pro-Israel narrative on Palestine, that Shahd’s outspoken condemnations of Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians, were seized upon by Zionists to complain that her statements were antisemitic and “made Jewish students unsafe”.  Read more…
