The Sheffield Palestine Coalition against Israeli Apartheid was launched in November 2022 with the central aim of making our city an Israeli Apartheid Free Zone. We take pride in the fact that Sheffield was the first UK Local Authority to declare itself an Apartheid-Free Zone in 1981 in the days of South African apartheid; we want Sheffield to replicate that principle, this time with reference to Israeli Apartheid.

The initial Coalition partners were

  • Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign
  • Kairos
  • Sheffield Trades Council
  • Sheffield Labour Friends of Palestine

Since then it has been affiliated to by close to 30 other local campaigning groups over the past 18 months.

We are committed to supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle for self-determination in opposition to Israeli settler colonial apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocidal practices. We seek the partnership of citizens, trades unions, political, community, environmental, faith and student groups.

We support the global Boycott Divestment and Sanctions movement, which offers meaningful strategies for everyone, as an individual or a group. We welcome partners in Sheffield, individuals and/or groups, who share our aims and will work to further them.
