The overall aim of the Coalition is to ensure the city of Sheffield is an Israeli Apartheid Free Zone.

These are the areas that we are currently working

Coca cola: take aways especially in Darnal are being discouraged from selling coca cola who have a factory in an illegal settlement on the West Bank

Sheffield Council: we have been putting pressure on the City council to fly the Palestinian flag on UN Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People, 29th November. We have asked the declare Sheffield an Israeli Apartheid Free Zone via a petition and many questions at Full Council and council committees.

Barclays Bank: we have had periodic protests outside Barclays on Pinstone Street as part of a national campaign to bring pressure on them to divest from companies that supply arms to Israel. One notable success was their divestment from Elbit, an Israeli owned arms company that has been the target of Palestine Action

University complicity: Sheffield University has invested up to £70 million in arms research at its new Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. There has also been activity at Sheffield Hallam University

Shops and supermarkets: we want to make sure companies are under pressure to stop sticking Israeli products. Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsburys, Lidl, Aldi all stock Israeli products from dates to avocados to humus. We hold periodic boycott protests outside these places to advertise their complicity with Israeli apartheid – and, since October 7th 2023, concerted attempt at genocide and forced removal of Palestinians from Gaza.
