Around England on Saturday 15th November activists gathered at prisons all over the UK where members of the Filton 24 and Brize Norton 5 are being held captive, on remand without trial. These people who have simply demonstrated against a genocide and demanded the complicity of the UK government and UK based industry should cease are being held as an intimidation tactic against others joining in.
At Newhall Prison, Wakefield, activists from Bradford, Leeds and Sheffield gathered to show support for Heba who has been on hunger strike for 14 days (as of Sunday 16th November). The voices raised probably broke all new sound regulations for live events and there was a great joy when Heba confirmed she could hear us and then called.
Below is a wonderful tribute to Heba and her statement
The anti colonial and anti imperialist background of these prisoner solidarity protests – “our comfort is based on systems dependent on genocide and imperialism” is important context ; so too the statement below on hunger strikes in anti colonial Irish struggle.
